DIVERSITY SPARKS 2012-13 SEASON This weekend also marks the premiere of the Pfister Finalists Art Exhibit, a display of artwork by the finalists for the renowned Artist in Residence Program at Milwaukee's historic Pfister Hotel. After the Festival weekend, the exhibit will be on display in the Wilson Center's Lynn Chappy Arts Education Wing. The Wilson Center's Ploch Art Gallery (located on the second floor of the Grand Hall) hosts the work of Wisconsin's fine artists throughout the year. On view through the month of September is the work of Richard Jones, winner of the 2010 Hidden River Art Festival Best of Show award. Traditional glassmaking techniques are an inte- gral part of Jones' artworks – exquisite art glass forms with unique color combinations. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and during performances. Visitors can learn new techniques and discover artists' trade secrets at Hidden River. In the Art Studio, demonstrations by exhibiting artists will include painting, sculpture, printmaking, draw- ing, 3D mixed media and more. At the Children's Activities Area, Wilson Center art teachers will present demonstrations and activities for children of all ages, providing a glimpse of classes offered at the Center. The Festival is supported by presenting sponsor M Magazine and other companies, corporations and individuals. Festival hours are 1-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 at the door and $5 in advance. Children 12 and under are free. Advance tickets and information is available at 262-781-9520, or visit www.hiddenriverartfestival.com. Directions to the Festival are I-94 to Barker Rd. exit, north on Barker Rd., east on Capitol Dr., then right on Mitchell Park Dr. UPCOMING events at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts illustrate the diversity of the pro- gramming. Now in its 11th season, this non-profit cultural arts Center offers performances by regional and touring groups, arts education and an art gallery with changing exhibitions. See KeyMilwaukee.com's arts and entertainment listings for performances and events. For tickets and more information, phone 262-781-9520 or visit www.wilson-center.com for tickets or information.
