Viewpoint John Kmitta G On With the Show! IE+EXPO will be held Oct. 25-26, 2012 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. (There is also a dealers only day on the show floor on Oct. 24). The Hardscape North America (HNA) Show will once again co-locate with GIE+EXPO, while the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) will be host- ing its Green Industry Conference and the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) will be hosting its School of Grounds Management. With so much to see and do in Louisville, we've tried to summarize the key points of interest for landscape and irrigation professionals in our show preview coverage beginning on page 8. That's entertainment In addition to everything there is to see and do during show hours, GIE+EXPO and HNA are also treating attendees to another round of evening concerts in down- town Louisville at 4th Street Live! On Wednesday, October 24, the band "Kansas," known for its multi-million-selling single, "Dust in the Wind," will perform beginning at 9 p.m. Country group "The Trishas" will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, followed at 9 p.m. by "The Eli Young Band." And GIE+EXPO provides an added treat with a third night of music as country/rock star Candy Coburn per- forms Friday, October 26 at 8 p.m. Hardscape education HNA is offering hardscape contractors and installers an opportunity to learn efficiency-increasing, profit-boosting installation techniques, while also earning con- tinuing education credits. These pre-show installation courses take place October 23- 24 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Louisville. The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) courses conclude with an exam, and participants who receive a passing grade will receive a Record of Completion for the course. Win a free Kindle Fire During the show, Green Media — publisher of Landscape and Irrigation, Outdoor Power Equipment, SportsTurf and Arbor Age — will be giving away a free Kindle Fire. The "Touching Base" promotion, to be held from Wednesday, Oct. 24 until noon on Friday, Oct. 26, will help attendees "touch base" with featured exhibitors. To partic- ipate, just bring the game card found in this issue (see page 26) with you to GIE+EXPO. While at the show, take the game card to each participating exhibitor's booth to get it stamped (see game card for the official list of exhibitors and correspon- ding booth numbers). Once you have collected all of the exhibitors' stamps, fill in your name and contact information on the bottom of the card, and return your completed card to the Green Media booth — #470 (only one completed game card per person will be accepted). All completed game cards will be entered into the drawing to win the free Kindle Fire. This exciting promotion gives us and the feature exhibitors a chance to meet with you, and gives you a chance to win one of the coolest new tech toys. LI IRRIGAT ON M2MEDIA360 1030 W.
