CUSTOM RIGS READER RIGS Less is more Independent James Churchill of Vancouver, B.C., hauls bulk commodities like grain, fertilizer and aggregates with his 2003 Kenworth W900L. The truck has a 475-hp Cummins and a 13-speed transmission, and Churchill says the rig is a workhorse, not a showpiece: "I feel like less is more … so I haven't added much for the looks," he says. Mi Porbe Angelito \ ARE YOU TOUGH ENOUGH FOR PINK? Performance Diesel Inc.'s Support the Cause pink 2001 Peterbilt 379 asks just that. The St. George, Utah-based company is selling raffle tickets for the truck's Nov. 3 giveaway. The company hopes to raise about $80,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Raffle tickets are available at pdidiesel. com or by calling 800-511-1231. PDI, after equipping the Pete's Cummins ISX with its Big Boss kit, teamed up with other aftermarket shops. Jones Performance donated the hood, and Lincoln Chrome gave the truck straight pipes and new stacks. 4 State Trucks offered up the pink floor, and 12ga. Customs added the steps, an air-ride kit and the visor. Chicago native Francisco Guerrero drives his 2001 Freightliner Classic – equipped with a 475- hp Cat and 10-speed transmission – on weekly runs from Chicago to the Mexico border. Guerrero hauls general freight and produce for his own company, FG Logistics. He's added a new grille, bumper, exhaust pipes and a rear light bar. The interior has a few chrome accents and aftermar- ket sound system. Guerrero christened the truck Mi Pobre Angelito (My Poor Little Angel) in honor of his brother, Alex, who died years ago. Black Pearl WE ASKED OUR READERS on Facebook if they could handle a pink truck, and here's what they said: "Real men wear pink ... or drive it. Save the ta-tas one mile at a time." — Bud M. "Free? I'd drive the hell out of that thing! I'd even get a friggin' pink trailer, too!" — Mike I. "Would drive it proudly all over the U.S.!" — Kathy B. Oversized load hauler Paul Ringuette of Morinville, Alberta, formerly pulled an ultra-low step-deck trailer with this 2008 Peterbilt 386. On windy days, Ringuette recalls, "it was like hauling around a sail," hence the truck's name. It's powered by a 450-hp Cummins and a 13-speed transmission. He's added a stainless steel bumper, a wood grain steering wheel, custom leather seats and dual Espar heaters. 62 | Overdrive | September 2012 "You bet I would — with breast cancer emblems all over it." — Richard N.
