Custom Rigs Reader Rigs By Elizabeth Manning Classic Pete Ron Metz, of Jewel, Kan., drives this 1998 Peterbilt 379 for Josh Bohnert, owner of Bohnert Farms. Metz bought the truck four years ago and restored it with his son before selling it to Bohnert in 2011. They repainted the rig, disassembled the interior and installed a sunroof, all with the intention of getting it back to a "classic look," says Metz, who uses the truck to haul farm equipment, livestock and commodities. It's powered by a 430-hp Detroit and a 10-speed transmission. BigEversole, of Crockett, Red Danny Va., hauls canoes and kayaks with his 2005 Kenworth W900L, equipped with a 625hp Caterpillar and an 18-speed transmission. Eversole ordered the truck from the factory and spec'd it with a sunroof, a full chrome package, LEDs and a retro-style dash. Workhorse Robert Marshall, of Chambersburg, Pa., hauls sand and aggregate gravel with this 2003 Western Star, which has a 600-hp Caterpillar C16 and an 18-speed transmission. Marshall, who runs under his own authority as Marshall Trucking, has put 870,000 miles on the truck since buying it new. He has kept it stock, including the paint job. Want to see your truck here?
