Opening Reception Meridian's restored Victorian-era showplace, the MSU Riley Center, hosted the opening reception. It featured music from Amy Lott and Steve Wilkerson, plus diverse tastes from top restaurants: penne marinara from Nick and Al's New York Style Pizzeria, portobello mushroom and provolone taquitos from Weidmann's Restaurant, and pulled pork sandwiches, bite-size sausages, and fried pork rinds from Squealer's Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Que. Wednesday Evening Party Wednesday evening's party carried guests back into Meridian's past at Soulé Steam Feed Works, site of the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum. As the Jeff Holland Band explored Mississippi's musical roots, Lovin' Spoonful Catering served beef brisket sliders and Dijon-glazed pork tenderloin. Wednesday Late Night A DJ kept the crowd dancing at the late-night gathering in the Northeast Conference Center. Cupcakes from Christy's Olde Time Sweet Shop and a candy and dessert bar from Southern Soirees and Sweets gave SUMMER 2013 | CONNECTIONS 11
