Today Joe Her- man, President of DHT (son) is purchasing the company from his parents and the traditions and culture live on. There have been many ups and downs in the past 46 years, but none worse than the past two. During one of our cost cut- ting meetings and discussions, we spoke of cutting wages and possibly laying off people. In quoting Joe, he said, “I do not want to cut anyone’s pay or lay off anyone; everyone needs their jobs just like all of us”. While we hope that those times remain in our past, we proudly now can say that; we didn’t cut anyone’s pay to include all driv- ers, we didn’t lay off one person and we continued with our equipment purchases. Here at DHT, our people’s needs are an integral part of our culture. We make our decisions based on the impact on our people and so lots of the things we didn’t do have contributed to DHT’s success.
