Parks & Recreation The mission of the City of Whitewater Parks and Recreation Department is to provide exceptional park and recreation services that enhance the environment of our community. The Whitewater Parks and Recreation Department oversees 239.8 acres of park land and maintains 20 parks and recreational facilities. A wide array of sports, recreation activities, lessons, and special events are available for citizens of all ages. Open space, parks, and trails provide opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Whitewater. The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library is centrally located at 431 West Center Street and is open Monday through Saturday. With nearly 110,000 items held locally and access to 2.5 million items through the five-county SHARE consortium, visitors have their pick of print and audio books, movies, music, and games. The library is a member of the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium which provides access to over 50,000 downloadable digital ebooks and audiobooks to library cardholders as well as a member of the MidWisconsin Federated Library System, which provides unlimited multi-user access to digital magazines through Zinio. The library also provides regular programming for children, young adults, and adults through their youth and adult services departments. Free computer access is available onsite as well as free wireless access. Seniors In the Park Seniors in the Park is a lively and dynamic program which is growing by leaps and bounds as more people learn of this sparkling jewel in Whitewater. Discover programs which challenge your mind, enhance your physical being, create new connections, and are just plain fun. Keep your brain growing by learning something new. Attend a presentation or lecture series. Try Chess or a new card game. Every month there is something new to learn or experience at Seniors in the Park.
