product focus | by Wayne Grayson WayneGrayson@randallreilly.com Tracks and tires NU-AIR McLaren's Nu-Air semi-pneumatic tire integrates the strength and stability of a solid tire with the smooth, cushioned ride of a pneumatic tire. With a low cost per hour the Nu-Air tire is a smart alternative to foam filled tires and regular pneumatic tires. McLaren has expanded the Nu-Air's availability from skid steers to a broad range of construction equipment, including backhoes, telehandlers, and wheel loaders. The Nu-Air tire features strategically-placed holes throughout its sidewalls to prevent cuts and snags. The placement and depth of the holes are designed to create the proper cushioning for maximum machine performance and longevity on and off road. Unlike fully pneumatic tires, which provide shock absorption with compressed air, the Nu-Air does not flatten, eliminating downtime from unexpected punctures. McLaren says the tire has three to five times the life expectancy of pneumatic tires. STEEL TRACKS Rubbertrax now offers steel track groups with optional bolt-on rubber pads. All Rubbertrax steel track groups with rubber pads are ISO9001 certified for durability in the roughest terrain. By converting your rubber track compact excavator over to steel tracks you can improve your machine's earthmoving capability, according to Rubbertrax. A simple turnkey conversion from rubber tracks to steel tracks saves on maintenance and replacement costs while increasing the versatility of compact excavators. Most major compact excavator brands have replaceable steel track group options. EquipmentWorld.com | November 2013 65
