MINUTES: MSAE Membership Meeting* Harrah's Conference Center New Orleans October 16, 2014 Establish Quorum Present In the Absence of President Shari Veazey, Immediate Past President Layne Bruce presided over the meeting. A quorum was established. Bruce called the meeting to order at 11:30 AM He thanked the volunteer leaders and staff for presenting a good joint conference commending the Caesar partners and LSAE for leading the planning and implementation of the conference. Presentation of Minutes The minutes from the May 1, 2012 Membership Meeting were distributed to the members present. Linda Ross Aldy made a motion to accept the minutes as presented and Jennifer Hall seconded that motion. Motion passed unanimously. Financial Report Treasurer Dan Gleason reported that MSAE continues to grow its programs and attendance giving the organization a solid financial standing. Funds are moved as needed to allow for the greatest interest identified. He indicated that either he or Amy could answer any specific questions about the financial report. And greater detail is always available by contacting the Treasurer or Executive Director. Annette Rand made a motion to approve the financial report. It was seconded by Lan Benton and approved unanimously. Nomination Committee Report Layne Bruce, Chair of the Nominating Committee presented the committee recommendations and board approved nominations for Executive and Industry Partner Board members to serve the 2014 – 2015 term, and officer positions for Vice President and Treasurer to serve the same two-year term. He opened the floor for additional nominations. No additional persons were nominated for any position. Executive Director's Report Amy Wilson, MSAE Executive Director reported the sites have been chosen for the two 2014 conferences and the 2015 Mid-Year Conference. Announcement of 2014 Joint Fall Conference: Natchez, MS, the week of October 6, 2014 Announcements of 2014 Mid-Year Conference: Bay St, Louis, MS, April 30 – May1, 2014 Announcement of 2015 Mid-Year Conference: Tupelo, MS, April 29 – May 1, 2015 Wilson also officially announced the use of a new MSAE logo that had been first published and utilized at this conference. She also announced the new website which is expected to be launched before the end of October. A printed copy of the site's mock-up was circulated at the membership meeting. The membership expressed favorable response to the appearance and message of the new logo as well as the progressive and improved website. Wilson also advised the members that the board approved the development of an improved event and member management system through Cvent which will be functioning before the end of the year. There being no old business before the membership, Bruce moved to New Business. New Business: Election of Officers Bruce read the nominations for Vice President as Judith Forshee and Treasurer Charles Elliott. Dan Gleason made a motion to approve the Officers as presented; Linda Arnold seconded the motion which was passed unanimously by the members present.
