Whether it's how to build a sustainable business, strategies for wine industry finance and accounting, or the sensory analyses behind professional wine rating systems, the 2014 Midwest Grape & Wine + Craft Brew Conference and Trade Show, and the Wineries + Breweries Unlimited Conference and Trade Show, have the answers. Presented by Vineyard & Winery Management and sponsored by Missouri Wines, this year's Midwest conference is scheduled for Feb. 4-7 at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Mo. Also presented by V&WM, the 38th annual Wineries Unlimited conference is slated for March 11-14 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va. 108 V I N EYA R D & WINE RY M ANAGEM ENT | Part educational conference and part dynamic trade show, each event also offers opportunities to connect with the wine industry's key players, from producers and winemakers to educators and suppliers, at a variety of social and networking events. NEW THIS YEAR Both events offer a variety of new educational and networking opportunities this year, including half-day beer-brewing classes led by the American Brewers Guild. The sessions will cover general brewing practices, from raw materials to bottle, at both conferences. Two new workshops and a networking event are also planned for St. Charles and Richmond. They Jan - Feb 2014 include a Sommelier Certification (Professional Wine Fundamentals) course led by the International Wine Guild, a VESTA Sensory Evaluation Workshop, and a Tour de Brew beer reception. Both conferences also provide several informative workshops. They include: Finance and Accounting for the Wine Industry; a special workshop presented by Sonoma State University's Wine Business Institute; and Beverage-To-Consumer, a two-part workshop presented by Ovation Guild that will focus on the essentials of creating and maintaining a successful and sustainable business.
