16 service strategy is simple: treat people with respect and do whatever it takes to get them what they need. "Everything worth learn- ing about how to treat people you learned in Kindergarten," Neeley says. "Respect people and treat them the way you'd want to be treated." That adherence to the Golden Rule can be seen throughout the organization. Neeley says he won't ask employees to do anything he wouldn't do; and the respect Truck Supply employees offer their customers also can be seen directed to their peers. "It's the 'empty the trash can' analogy," he says. "When the trash is full you should take it out, it doesn't matter who you are. "We all believe that, and stay motivated from that." Truck Supply employees take pride in their work and their ability to serve custom- ers. Employees arrive early, stay late and work weekends not because they have to, but because they want to. General Manager Tommy Hill believes that work ethic "comes from the respect ev- eryone [here] has for Edward and the way he treats people. He will help them in any way possible." That also can be seen in the way Neeley has dedicated himself to the aftermarket. In addition to his work as co-chair of HDAW '14, Neeley also is an active member of HDA Truck Pride and is the vice president of the Com- mercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN). "People respond to that" kind of commitment, says Hill. Customers appreciate it as well. Truck Supply has seen its annual sales volume multiply by ten since 2002, Neeley says, and its customer base now stretches across all of South Carolina. Neeley says he's proud of the reputation Truck Sup- ply has earned over the last decade. Putting customers fi rst has allowed the business to thrive, and he says the busi- ness is determined to con- tinue to do so in the future. If that means an unusual request, so be it. Truck Supply services all customer requests. "If a customer calls and asks for a cheeseburger, we'll ask what he wants on it," Neeley says. "Then we're go- ing to get it for him exactly as he ordered it. It may cost him more than going to a McDon- alds, but when [a customer] comes to us he knows he's going to get exactly what he asked for."
