EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT 27 AGGREGATES MANAGER September 2014 protect bushings with thick steel. e boom part of the cradle is reinforced because there's a lot of wear and tear that happens on that part in particular. And the last thing an operator wants is a pin retainer or bushing to fall out while he's breaking. In another effort to reduce vibrations and machine wear, im- proved upper and lower suspension systems have been introduced. e goal of the suspension system is to reduce the vibrations trans- ferred from the breaker to the carrier; if the joints on an excavator boom are not properly protected, the constant pulsating and vibrat- ing during breaking can cause excessive and unnecessary wear. To counteract this, the suspension system pumps hydraulic oil to the breaker and dampens the vibrations to help prolong the life of the excavator boom, which requires constant lubrication. It's important to find a hydraulic breaker that best fits the applica- tion. And, with several advancements and innovations, it's easier to find and apply an option that can maximize productivity. Staying up on those advancements and options is key. AM Article courtesy of Montabert.
