16 OCTOBER 2014 ARBOR AGE www.arborage.com SHERRILLTREE SPRAY EQUIPMENT SherrillTree introduced fully enclosed all- aluminum spray trucks bodies to include Educator systems for adding water-soluble fertilizer while the operator never leaves the ground; plus s/s sink with running fresh water for cleaning after spray applications. TEREX UTILITIES Terex Utilities introduced its redesigned XT Pro Series Tree Trimmer trucks. These new overcenter aerial devices have the same features that made the company's previous tree trimmers so popular — simple, reliable operation, low maintenance and lightweight design. The XT Pro Series tree trimmers also boast a host of new features, including a longitudinal hydraulic lift option to provide up to 75 feet of work- ing height, upper boom articulation of 250 degrees, and 125 degrees of lower boom articulation, to further extend these aerial devices' capacities and capabilities. Terex Utilities also continued to promote a lighter-weight elevator for its 60-70 tree unit, which was introduced in 2013. This new elevator makes it possible to keep a 70-foot-working-height tree unit under 33,000 GVW, avoiding FET penalties. This lighter-weight elevator also allows for better weight distribution and for additional options to be up-fitted on the chassis. And it can be mounted on a lighter chassis with a 12,000-pound front axle. The lighter- weight elevator means better fuel savings compared to its heavier predecessor. LOFTNESS Customers can stay tuned for exciting new equipment announcements from Loftness at the Tree Care Industry Expo in November. JLG JLG introduced redesigned X500AJ and X600AJ Compact Crawler Booms. Narrow and compact in design, the Compact Crawler can be used in multiple ways outdoors. The X500AJ and X600AJ have increased to 500 pounds of unrestricted capacity throughout the working envelope, allowing operators to reach more and increase productivity. The X500AJ features a 56-foot working height and 50-foot platform height, and the X600AJ features a 66-foot working height with a 60-foot platform height, both lightweight for load-sensitive surfaces and ease of transport. The addition of forklift pockets and lifting hooks on the outriggers allow for convenient loading and positioning in the most chal- lenging applications. Both machines offer an innovative green lithium-ion battery option for quiet, clean, zero-emissions operation. BANDIT INDUSTRIES 2014 is the year Bandit took its stump grind- ing efforts to a whole new level. Bandit customers have been asking for more track stump grinders, and Bandit responded with track versions of its Model 2550 and Model 2650. The Model 2550 Track is a 44-hp. diesel stumper featuring a turf-friendly rubber track undercarriage that was designed in-house specifically for this machine. It's narrow enough to fit through backyards gates and it delivers a great combination of power, light weight and maneuverability. Bandit's Model 2650 Track is the next step up, featuring a 61-hp. diesel and riding on an expandable rubber track undercar- riage. It can also fit through backyard gates, but the tracks expand for stability in transit and at the stump. It is a good all-around machine that also has the power to handle larger land-clearing jobs. In addition to track machines, Bandit unveiled two new towable stump grinders with the Model 2600 and Model 2700. Bandit added its beltless hydrostatic direct-drive to these stump grinders to give customers the simplicity of a towable with the reduced maintenance that comes from the beltless setup. There are still many people who prefer having the simplicity and power of a towable machine, and these units offer engines from 61 to over 100 hp. Bandit also unveiled the innovative Bandit Stump Gun earlier this year. The Stump Gun is an attachment for skid-steer loaders, and is powered by the skid-steer's hydraulic systems. Because it grinds verti- cally, there's really no limit to the size of stump it can handle. MORBARK Morbark introduced the ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield as an option on most of its Beever brush chippers. The ChipSafe consists of plates mounted directly to the sides of the brush chipper's infeed chute. When used in conjunction with special work gloves and ankle straps — or straps on both the ankles and wrists — the ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield stops the chipper's feeding mechanism if the operator's gloves or straps enter the sensing zone in the infeed chute, protecting the opera- tor from possible injury. To restart the feeding mechanism, users swipe their ChipSafe glove or strap across a reset box located on the outer side of the infeed chute, so they main- tain high productivity. Morbark and its dealers are deeply committed to safety, and feel strongly that the ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield will help protect Morbark customers and their employees from injury.
