www.arborage.com ARBOR AGE OCTOBER 2014 17 duce 3 gpm at 400 psi. That may not sound like much, but a sizable percentage of applications are relatively low volume — just enough product to coat the surface versus a total drench. Deer repellants and anti- desiccants are good examples. For shrubs, 3 gpm is good for almost any application. It can also handle root feeding. Add envi- ronmental control products for ticks, mos- quitoes, etc. and this pump can be a real asset. For turf managers, 3 gpm can handle almost any application they make. The pressure enables coverage of 30-foot-high trees. Besides being "Green" with virtually no noise, it eliminates the need for a gas engine to service and the gas to run it. This industrial-quality piston pump will pay for itself in gas savings in the first 1 to 2 years and eliminate a lot of hassle. This pump is in no way related to the "on-demand" pump that usually comes to mind. With the new "Targeted Zone Application Method" developed for Green Pro Solutions' Bio-Tree & Shrub product, arborists can use 40 percent less mate- rial, apply a complete nutritional program within 7 feet of the trunk of even the largest trees, and save huge amounts of labor costs. The uptake is faster and Mark Mann has developed programs for trees in distress. In addition to all of these benefits, the process uses 80 percent less water, which means either the arborist can do five times as much feeding with the same spray truck, or, if they are thinking about buying a truck, they may be able to purchase a smaller one at considerable savings. Flexibility and efficiency are still para- mount, hallmarks of Green Pro design. Their latest advancement is the "Convertible" truck. One or more compartments can be used to exchange liquid capacity for a pallet of granu- lar product, or a portable air compressor for root excavation, or other tasks. For a com- pany that is just starting out, or in a smaller population center that still wants to offer all of the services, one truck that can do everything (even turf and organics), is enclosed so it doesn't need a garage, and is locked and secure, is a real money maker. ALTEC Altec's newest chipper addition is an easy- to-use solution for the operator who needs a smaller machine capable of processing a large amount of debris. An eight-blade feed roller design allows for smooth operation for all types and sizes of material while maintaining a convenient 6-inch ×10-inch feed opening. The transition zone between the feed roller and cutting disc has been redesigned to provide more pro- ductive, efficient chipping. The DSC6 features automatic protec- tion of the unit's drive belt and clutch. This feature automatically shuts off the engine if a disc jam is detected to prevent dam- age to the machine. Altec's DRM12 is a 12-inch control-feed drum chipper with a 20-inch pivot style side feed roller powered by a 32.2-cubic-inch motor. It features an Altec Controls electronic feed system to allow more precise control of the feed process, as well as a quicker response time in engine regulation. This system maximizes production and allows the engine to operate in an optimum range. The DRM12 also offers a rear tire chang- ing jack attachment, standard lift cylinder, a hand crank height adjustment and a hand crank chute allowing 360-degree rotation. Coming standard on all Altec wood chip- pers, the patented "Panic Bar" system is designed to provide operators a dedicated stop mechanism for the feed system inde- pendent of the feed control bar. JARRAFF Jarraff equipment is geared to your tree service and ROW maintenance companies, which often extend beyond just the tradi- tional arborist. But the company has been working on updates to each of its machines: the Jarraff All-Terrain Trimmer, the Mini- Jarraff Rear Lot Trimmer and the Geo-Boy Brush Cutter Tractor. The most significant updates have been done on the Mini-Jarraff rear lot trimmer. That unit is used for municipal distribution ROW maintenance and residential trimming applications. It is remote controlled with 55-feet of vertical reach and a 360-degree range of rotation. It utilizes a patent-pending 180 rotating saw head capable of precise horizontal cutting and tree topping. The updated model improves trailering efficiency with an auto-trailering mode that adjusts both the front and rear wheels to the exact width needed for trailering. After the width specifications of the trailer are input into the control panel, a push button control automatically adjusts the Mini-Jarraff's wheel width to meet the exact trailer requirements. The Mini-Jarraff can then be loaded onto the trailer quickly and easily, and transported to the next job site. SHERRILLTREE In 2014, SherrillTree introduced the profes- sional arborist market to the Rook Lanyard, Pro-Grade Log Dolly, and Notch Safety Glasses. STIHL INC. Stihl Inc. continued to expand its Lithium-Ion Battery KombiSystem product line with the new HTA 85 lithium-ion battery pole pruner. This product offers powerful performance in a lightweight, balanced design by utilizing a brushless, commercial-grade, high-torque electric motor and reduced-weight-yet- durable components. With this tool, tree care professionals now have a quiet, zero- exhaust emission, low-vibration option for trimming overhead branches. The HTA 85 telescopes to 12 feet and offers long run times of up to three hours with no gradual drop in performance. The innovative Stihl M-Tronic microprocessor-controlled engine management system expands into several Stihl professional-series chain saws. Stihl M-Tronic technology optimizes engine per- formance and compensates for changes in operating conditions, such as temperature, elevation, fuel quality, and dirty air filter. The latest saw to feature Stihl M-Tronic is the 42.6 cc Stihl MS 241 C-M, an agile, fuel-efficient and easy-to-operate package. The MS 241 C-M offers optimal maneuverability for ground crews. VERMEER Vermeer had successful new product launch- es in 2014, especially with the new SC362 stump cutter. This machine has been very well received in the marketplace among pro- fessional arborists. The higher horsepower engine is the main feature arborists like the most, providing more power to do more work. The SC362 has a larger sweep area as well, so Vermeer is excited about its place in the tree care industry as a very productive machine. SPECIAL FEATURE
