Better Roads December 2014 19 Volvo Tier 4 Final engine technology reduces NOx 80 percent olvo Tier 4 Final technology Volvo launched its Tier 4 Final technology – which includes its D4, D6, D8, D11, D13 and D16 diesel engines – at ConExpo-Con/ Agg 2014. The engines, which deliver 5-percent fuel savings compared to previ- ous models, feature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology cooled external exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) that are designed to reduce NOx levels by 80 per- cent compared to Tier 4 Interim. The new engines power the company's G Series articulated haulers, G946C motor grader and H Series wheel l. betterroads.com/new-road-products-37 BOMAG's vibratory tampers work for highway patching BOMAG's new line of vibratory tampers have low-operating weights and can perform compaction jobs. The vibratory tampers can be used for highway patching in which a roller would be too large or for soil or backfi ll compaction in tight areas. The company offers three models in the new line: the BT60, BT65 and BVT65. The BT60, designed for use in confi ned spaces, weighs 128 pounds and delivers up to 3,372 pounds of impact force, while the BT65, cre- ated for high-compaction demands, weighs 150 pounds and delivers 3,822 pounds of impact force. The BVT65 is designed for occasional use in typical applications, weighs 143 pounds and delivers 3,597 pounds of impact force. The BT60 has a 9-inch standard operating width, while the BT65 and BVT65 each have an operating width of 11 inches. Four interchangeable shoe sizes (6, 9, 11 and 13 inches) are available as optional equipment. betterroads.com/ bomag-vibratory-tampers Case 821F, 921F wheel loaders meet Tier 4 Final standards Case Construction Equipment's 821F and 921F wheel loaders have been up- dated to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards. The wheel loaders are equipped with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR)-only solution that treats emissions separately with diesel exhaust fl uid (DEF) and does not require the engine to re-circulate exhaust gas. This, Case says, optimizes combustion and machine performance, lowers engine temperatures and eliminates maintenance and downtime associated with fi lter replacement and regeneration. Each loader has a best-in-class 6.7-liter engine that also provides quick throttle response and impressive torque. The 821F and 921F wheel loaders produce 212 and 241 net peak horsepower, respectively. betterroads.com/case-821f-921f Email: info@mobilebarriers.com www.mobilebarriers.com ®
