ASSOCIATION NEWS FROM THE WCTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONFERENCE & SHOW ear Turfgrass Managers and Personnel, You are cordially invited to attend the 49th Annual Western Canada Turfgrass Association Conference and Show. We are very pleased to be back in Victoria and have been working hard to ensure the 2012 show will be, dollar for dollar, the most valuable turf management educational and networking experience available anywhere. The 2012 event will see many subtle and not so subtle changes to address the needs of our delegates. We are enhancing what matters most by directing more resources into things like the quality and depth of the speakers, the total hours of educational seminars and the social networking events. This will be a consolidated, streamlined, action- packed show with over 750 delegates from the turf industry attending. It's going to be a good idea to clear your calendar and make sure you take part! Program highlights include: • Golf Tournament Saturday, Jan 21 at Highland Pacific, hosted by Kwantlen Turf Club • two pre-conference seminars slated for Sunday, January 22nd. • WCTA Annual General Meeting and Award Presentations moves to Sunday, January 22nd. at 4:30pm • 'Prairie dinner' and President's Reception immediately follows AGM on Sunday, January 22nd. WCTA 49TH ANNUAL • No holds barred education program including five PhD's speaking and addition of 'non-turf manager decision maker' education track to draw upper level decision makers to the show • First ever in BC 'State of the Golf Industry' Symposium that will see a panel of leading golf industry personnel from all sectors discuss the future of the golf business. • 2 days of Trade Show with over 20,000 square feet of exhibitor space displaying everything golf and turf related you can think of, and then some. Watch for show specials! • addition of Products and Services Showcase Stage to trade show floor • Monday Evening Social and Dave Creamer Memorial Hockey Game at Save-On-Foods Arena • Tuesday night speaker appreciation dinner at Bard and Banker Scottish Pub Of course there are a lot of other things taking place at the show including our Silent Auction for Turf Research, BC Pesticide Applicators Certificate Course, Fest-of-Ale on the trade show floor, prize give-aways including $1000 cash draw for early bird registrants, student speakers and much more.
