Fall 2015 — www.ncsf.com 7 How good are you at making decisions? We make decisions every day and most of them are simply choices to navigate our day and deal with life. But what about the more crucial decisions – who to marry, what career to choose, should I move to another city – they can have a long lasting impact on our personal well-being as well as our family. At times we are faced with decisions between options that appear equal in nature but not equal in the effects that we will experience in our lives. To help us we often weigh the options, evaluate the possibilities as much as possible, consult our family and friends. Maybe we even pray about it asking divine guidance. But do we ever consider that God wants to be a partner in our decision- making process and not just be the last resort to save us from ruin? God creates us for Himself to share life with us forever. God wants to accompany us in all phases of our life, but especially when making decisions that could easily impact our happiness and spiritual growth. God wants what is best for us. Invite God to help you to understand the movement of your own heart, what draws you to God and what prevents you from being close to God. By spending time refl ecting on where our heart is at, we can slowly learn to recognize the impulses of the Spirit deep within us, drawing us to choose that which is life-giving for us and not life-taking. When our decision aligns with God's desire for us, we will discover a true peacefulness that allays our fears and calms our anxieties.
