Competitors from more than 50 countries and regions in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the South Pacific, and Africa simu- late real work challenges that must be completed to interna- tional standards of quality. About 175 Grundfos employees joined family, friends, and corporate partners in its annual Walk for Water event held in Aurora, Illinois in September and Kansas City, Missouri in October. The initia- tive was designed to raise awareness about the global water crisis and raise funds for safe, sustainable water solutions in developing countries. In partnership with Water Missions International, the event is meant to illustrate the plight of people in developing coun- tries who sometimes walk 4 miles each day to obtain water, which is often from contami- nated sources. Halfway through the 3½-mile walk, participants filled 3-gallon buckets with water, simulating the literal bur- den of life in a developing na- tion. Grundfos first held the event in 2012, and to date has raised more than $200,000 for Water Missions International that has provided thousands of people with daily access to safe water in Haiti and Uganda. Water for Life announced its campaign to raise funds and awareness to support its global clean water initiatives to bring sustainable access to clean water by delivering high-tech water filters to families, schools, or- phanages, and entire villages. Water for Life has already achieved its initial goal of $25,000 to deliver 500 filters to Cambodia and is working on se- curing funds to send filters to Kenya and India as additional goals.
