CUSTOM RIGS 60 | Overdrive | December 2015 Y ou wouldn't expect a truck based in a tiny Indiana town and tied to grain farming to have more video monitors and speakers than what's found in most houses. But then you probably haven't been inside Buzz Kill, the 2015 Peterbilt 386 shown by Davis Bros. of Owensville, Ind. The sleek Pete has a sound system with 28 speakers and seven amplifi ers, as well as video monitors in every door and the dashboard. The over-the-top off ering isn't the fi rst for a show truck built by Davis Bros., says Brian Davis, co-owner with his brother, Tom. Having a mobile showroom also doesn't hurt considering that one of the Davis Bros. sidelines is doing audio installations in trucks. As for the basics, though, "We're a small fl eet company, and we grain-farm as well," said Davis. They received the truck new for conversion as a Fitzgerald glider kit, putting in a 12.7-liter Detroit engine. During Overdrive's Pride & Polish last summer in Crossville, Tenn., at Fitzgerald Glider Kits' annual show, Davis' truck got enough votes from competitors to win the "Partici- pants' Choice" award. Best of Show winner Austin Ashley gave up his right to compete in the Pride & Polish National Champion- ship at the Great American Truck- ing Show in Dallas because he had agreed to serve as a judge.
