Custom Rigs July 2016 | Overdrive | 57 S how truck veteran Jake Lindamood and his 1988 Peterbilt 379 heavy hauler picked up the Best of Show nod last month at the 34th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs working show truck beauty contest, besting a crowded field of 89 participants throughout the weekend's three days of festivities. Lindamood picked up a total of $15,000 for the victory — $10,000 from Shell and $5,000 from Mac Trailer — along with a spot in the 2017 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar. The Dallas-based Lindamood owns and oper- ates Lindamood Demoli- tion, running about 70 trucks in the operation. This is the second time in five years that Shell's annual contest was held in Joplin, Mo. This year's show, themed the "Gi- ants of Joplin," again was intended to provide an economic boon to the city that was hammered by an EF 5 tornado in May 2011. Shell also held the 2012 SuperRigs contest in Joplin to support the city and its rebuilding efforts.
