RATES DOWN, BUT HOLDING
Sagging freight, cheap fuel and a mostly stagnant
economy continue to depress rates in all three major
truckload segments. Since an 18-month tumble from
early 2015, rates have been mostly flat since mid-2016.
These rates from Truckstop.com are verified averages
paid to owner-operators by brokers and shippers.

PARTNERS IN BUSINESS TIP: USING P&L STATEMENT
Your records should be converted into a
monthly profi t-and-loss statement that
shows how many miles you drove and
your revenue, costs and net earnings.
Comparing P&L statements allows you
to see if you are improving. If you cannot
produce this statement, work with a fi nan-
cial services provider who can.
