EQUIPMENT FOCUS | Trenchers & Tillers Atom 6-tine tiller The Atom 6-tine tiller is a quiet, shaft-driven machine that covers 13 inches in a single pass. The self-sharpening tines are long lasting and designed to dig through the hardest soils. Powered by Honda's commercial-grade GX-25 engine, the Atom is light enough to be very portable but powerful enough to tackle the same jobs normally reserved for much larger machines. It has an adjustable wheel to easily regulate depth, as well as an easy lifting handle. The comfortable rubber-coated handle grips keep the machine controls at the user's fingertips. The large, removable tine guard has side skirts to reduce soil spray and contain the work area. This tiller/cultivator is fast, safe, easy to use, and ready to tackle the toughest tasks. Atom/Seago International, Inc. BCS tillers BCS tillers are all gear driven, with automotive-style clutches, heat-treated steel shafts, and embedded ball bearings for high performance and excellent value. Used by market gardeners, landscapers and avid home gardeners in 50-plus countries, BCS tillers are available in tilling widths ranging from 18 to 33 inches. The rear-tine tiller attachment can easily be removed, and this "2-wheel tractor" will power many other attachments, including a chipper/shredder, snowthrower, rotary brush mower and sickle bar. BCS America Bobcat 3-point tillers A new line of Bobcat 3-point tillers is available for 1-pass efficiency with compact tractors and Toolcat 5610 utility work machines. Three new models have working widths of 43, 55 and 67 inches, and an adjustable tilling depth up to 5 inches. Tiller implements for compact tractors and Toolcat machines are gear driven, allowing them to provide an efficient method to break ground; prepare soil for planting; amend soil with fertilizer, manure or mulch; and remove weeds between tree rows. The tillers are equipped with slip-clutch protection to prevent driveline damage in case the rotor system becomes bound or jammed. The tines of the tiller rotate in the opposite direction as the tires when the tractor or Toolcat 5610 is moving forward. The reverse action of the rotor brings materials up and over the top of the L-shaped tines, providing better soil fluff. With up to 54 blades per tiller, the implements also provide better pulverization of soil. The formed deck sheds water and debris for a cleaner, rust-free surface. Bobcat Co. Ditch Witch compact walk-behind trenchers Ditch Witch compact walk-behind trenchers are designed and manufactured to provide an exceptional return on investment for small business owners, particularly equipment rental companies. Numerous design features give reason for Ditch Witch trenchers' durability and reputation for maximum performance with minimal downtime. They have a hydraulic system, as opposed to belt driven. All Ditch Witch walk-behind trenchers have fully hydrostatic ground drives, with simple-to-use, hydraulic, skid-steer-style steering. Ditch Witch walk-behind trenchers also boast a solid, adjustable trail wheel that helps keep them stable and reduces breakover when loading, unloading, and traveling over curbs and other uneven terrain. Ditch Witch Tow-behind DR ROTO-HOG power tiller Because the DR ROTO-HOG is a tow-behind power tiller, none of its engine's power is wasted propelling the machine. Instead, full power from the Briggs & Stratton 875 Series OHV engine goes directly to the tines, making it easier and faster to use than a walk- behind tiller. Remote control from the towing vehicle allows the user to make precise adjustments to the tilling depth, and operate the optional spreader and Culti-Packer attachments. Twenty-four steel bolo tines spin at more than 230 rpm and till a 3-foot-wide swath. The DR ROTO-HOG features a heavy-duty frame, a double-sealed chain-driven transmission and a belt-drive system. DR Power Equipment, a division of Country Home Products, Inc. Echo's TC-210 tiller/cultivator Echo's TC-210 tiller/cultivator is lightweight for comfort, but heavy duty for performance. It boasts a 21.2-cc professional-grade 2-stroke engine coupled with an electronic ignition and purge pump carburetor for quick, easy starts. Other features include a water-resistant stop switch and convenient throttle location, along with a kickstand for easy storage. A worm gear-type transmission provides high rpm and high tine torque in tough soil conditions. Four, 10-tooth tines dig 9-inch-wide by 6-inch-deep furrows. Echo Inc. Honda FRC800 rear-tine tiller Honda's FRC800 rear-tine tiller features easy tilling operation through simple controls with 1-step tine-and-drive engagement, making it ideal for first-time rental users. A front bumper guard and a heavy-duty transmission, debris shield, and controls enhance durability for rental and commercial applications. Powered by a 242-cc Honda GX240 OHV 4-stroke engine that is quiet, easy to start, and more fuel efficient than comparably sized 2-stroke designs, the FRC800 offers virtually smoke-free operation with ultra- low emissions. Additional features include 12-inch tines, chain-drive multi-speed transmission, full loop handle with easy-access controls, clutch disengagement lever, 4-position handle adjustment and adjustable drag bar.
