DR Power unveils DR TreeChopper Ventrac unveils new DR Power Equipment recently introduced the DR TreeChopper, an ATV-mounted tree cutting tool designed to deal with the growing problem of invasive trees. Invasive trees are a major concern for farmers, ranchers, and land management organizations across the country. It's estimated that in the Midwest alone, more than 500,000 acres of pasture are lost to forest encroachment each year. And some tree species such as juniper and spruce often spread over natural firebreak areas (meadows, pastures) and can fuel dangerous wildfires. The DR TreeChopper is a professional solution to invasive trees and fits within a homeowner's budget. The TreeChopper has been used for more than 10 years by ranchers and conservation organizations for reclaiming pastures, blazing trails, creating firebreaks, and opening up shooting lanes for hunting. Made of durable, professional-grade steel, the DR TreeChopper mounts securely to the front of most ATVs and cuts trees up to 4 inches thick in seconds. Unlike skid-steer-mounted tree shears, the DR TreeChopper requires no external power source or stopping and waiting for hydraulic jaws to open and close around the tree. The DR TreeChopper can cut hundreds of trees per hour. The DR TreeChopper works as follows: 1) Forward fixed blades on each side of the device score the trunk and help guide the tree toward circular rotating blades in the center; 2) Just like a pipe cutter slices through metal, circular blades rotate as the ATV accelerates through the trunk, cutting cleanly from each side; 3) The device's trailing blade shears off the stump smoothly from the back; and 4) The blades cut flush to the ground, leaving a stump no more than a 1/4-inch high, so the tree won't re-grow. Model 4500 tractor Ventrac by Venture Products Inc. revealed a new Model 4500 tractor at a recent International Dealer Sales Meeting in Canton, Ohio. The new 4500 has new powerful engine options, more safety features, enhanced technology, and easy and comfortable handling. The 4500 is available with new powerful engine options from Briggs & Stratton, Kawasaki and Kubota, including a propane engine option with the Kubota DF972. Ergonomically friendly controls include an easy-to- reach automotive-style parking brake and a conveniently located PTO belt tensioner. The relocated weight transfer lever allows operators to easily adjust for increased stability on slopes and increased lift capacity. The sealed electrical system protects fuses, relays and terminals from corrosion and outdoor elements. A new automotive-style wire harness allows a quick "plug-and-play" feature for ease of connecting optional tractor accessories. The optional digital slope indicator with warning light integrates into the dash, providing easy visibility, and allows operators to continuously monitor the degree of slope operation. The extra-large premium-comfort seat with adjustable slide rails will provide many hours of riding comfort for operators. Added features include an enclosed muffler for greater visibility and minimized exhaust exposure. Operators of the new 4500 are kept informed of operational temperatures, oil pressure or low voltage levels with the enhanced instrumentation of the new 6-function warning gauge. New technology can be seen in the electronic instrument panel on the newly redesigned dash. With tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, hour meter and temperature gauge, operators stay well informed. A battery disconnect switch feature fully disables the electrical system and includes a fail-safe disconnect.
