Inside AED CED Magazine Wins Prestigious Journalism Award Construction Equipment Distribution magazine took first prize on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Journalism Feature Story category at the Grand Awards dinner in conjunction with the Construction Writers Association's annual conference. Contributing reporter Giles Lambert- son's "Drilling Drama" feature article in CED's April 2012 issue was regaled with these remarks from the contest judges: "Judges thought this article represented a balanced portrayal of a contentious issue. Compositionally, there was a nice flow between making a business case for drilling and discussing government policy." Honorable mentions in the Journalism contest included Tom Jackson for "Contractor of the Year" in Equipment World; "Designing to Fit the Needs of ED Students," by Torrey Sims of School Construction News; "Vivid Recall," a recounting of 9/11 from the viewpoint of crane operators, by D.Ann Shiffler from American Cranes and Transport; and Tom Sawyer, ENR, for "Life-Saving Lessons from the Japanese Tsunami." While presenting at the ceremony, CWA Journalism Awards Committee Chair Patti Flesher noted that "The features article category received the most entries and was one of the most challenging to judge."
