Industry Beat Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Holds Grand Opening Raleigh-Durham Auction Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers recently held a two-day Grand Opening Auction at its new 45-acre auction site in Butner, N.C., near Raleigh-Durham. More than US$76 million of trucks, earthmoving and mining equipment were sold, including 300 mining and earthmoving machines used in coal mining operations. Vermeer Texas-Louisiana Breaks Ground on New San Antonio Facility Vermeer Texas-Louisiana recently held a ground- breaking ceremony for their new San Antonio facility. Located directly off the IH-35 corridor on the northeast side of San Antonio within the city limits of Selma, Texas, the new 34,000 square foot facility will be built on 8.2 acres. Scheduled to open in early 2013, the facility will replace the branch located on the east side of San Antonio. NCCCO Recognizes Employers with "Committed to Crane Safety" Program PROUDLY EMPLOYING CERTIFIED OPERATORS The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) recently announced its new Committed to Crane Safety program, designed to recog- nize employers who have demonstrated their commitment to safety by hiring CCO- certified personnel. Companies that participate in this program usually have a hiring policy that requires or strongly encourages CCO certifi- cation. In so doing, they identify themselves as companies that strive for excellence in their hiring and training efforts. Companies that successfully qualify for entry into the program receive a special Recognition Package that includes the rights to use the exclusive CCO "Proudly Employing" logo(s), coverage of their efforts in national and local media, and other benefits. Sepa- rate programs have been established for employers of crane operators, riggers, and signalpersons.
