New & Improved IMT Introduces Revamped Lineup of TireHand Tire Manipulators Perform big tire-changing jobs more efficiently and safely than ever. Iowa Mold Tooling's new and improved lineup of TireHand tire manipulators enable customers to efficiently and safely install and rotate the massive tires on mining and construction equipment. IMT has added two new TireHand models and redesigned previous offerings to meet customer needs for more capacity options, increased productivity and improved operator safety. Available in loader or forklift truck-mounted options, the rugged IMT TireHand tire manipulator lineup provides maxi- mum capacities ranging from 5,500 pounds to an industry- leading 36,000 pounds – including new models with 20,000 pounds and 36,000 pounds of capacity. The 20,000- and 36,000-pound capacities fill niches in the TireHand lineup while the 5,500- and 15,000-pound capacities are increased over previous models. The 10,000- and 25,000-pound capacities have been maintained. Numerous design enhancements including optimized pad design; increased arm length; minimized arm profile, dual pinion pad rotation, 100-degree cylinder body rotation, and integrated fallback protection arms that are hydraulically JLG's New SkyGuard Aftermarket Accessory Stops All Functions JLG Industries announced the availability of SkyGuard, an aftermarket accessory that provides enhanced control panel protection for boom lifts. When activated by approximately 50 pounds of force, the SkyGuard sensor, which can be initiated from a variety of angles, stops all functions. Its unique reverse functionality stops all functions and then undoes most functions that were in use at the time of sensor activation for less than a second's worth of time. The control system automatically accesses the functions in use by the operator at the time of SkyGuard activation, and – for a small period of time – is able to reverse that sequence, with certain exceptions. In a situation where extreme force is exerted, the sensor bar breaks away to provide additional space for the opera- tor. A horn and optional blue flashing beacon simultane- ously alert other workers on the jobsite to sensor activa- tion. Positioned in front of the platform control panel, SkyGuard does not limit platform workspace, the capacity of the boom lift, or disrupt operator visibility. SkyGuard can be installed on most combustion-powered JLG boom lifts manufactured from 2004 and after.
