Gear Guide 52 | Overdrive | July 2018 Long-haul steer tire Goodyear's LHS (long-haul steer) tire is the latest addition to the company's Endur- ance lineup and is the companion to the company's LHD (long-haul drive) tire. The Goodyear LHS will replace the G399A but will feature the same tread design and geometry while adding new tread and tire casing compounds designed to extend ser- vice life and provide a consistent footprint. "We're going to use tread compounds for miles to removal and casing compounds to improve fuel economy," says Mahesh Ka- vaturu, Goodyear marketing manager. "We are eliminating the trade-out that you see in tires. Typically, when you get mileage, you have to compromise in fuel [mpg] and vice versa." The Goodyear LHS tire also will phase out the three-layer tread compound used in the G399A in favor of a dual-layer tread that Kavaturu says slows down wear while also providing more even wear. The Goodyear Endurance LHS is avail- able in sizes 295/75R22.5, 285/75R24.5, 11R22.5 and 11R24.5, all load ranges G and H. – Jason Cannon goodyeartrucktires.com, 866-353-3847 Window deflector Belmor's Chop Top window deflector is made with UV-resistant acrylic and is designed to deflect direct sunlight from a driver's field of vision and allow fresh air to flow into the cab while keeping rain out.
