CEDAR CREEK WINERY & CEDAR CREEK SETTLEMENT host 23rd Annual Open House March 16-17 CEDAR CREEK WINERY and The Shops of Cedar Creek Settlement, located in the historic 1864 Cedar Creek Settlement, host the 23rd Annual Open House Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 17, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Two festive days feature barrel tasting of 2012 vintages, live music, cooking with wine demonstrations and samplings, wine tastings, special events, food samplings and more. Visitors have the opportunity to barrel-taste selected 2012 Cedar Creek vintages with Winemaker Philippe Coquard at 1 and 3 p.m. Also available is sampling of Cedar Creek Winery���s many gold award-winning wines, such as Vidal, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet and Waterfall Riesling. (Wines will be sampled directly from the barrel.) Another unusual opportunity is Grapevine Pruning demonstrations with Philippe will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Jazz and contemporary music by accomplished pianist and singer Ernest Collins will entertain from noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Collins has been featured at the Pfister Hotel for many years as well as clubs around Milwaukee. He has played for Tony Bennett, Al Martino and Angela Basset. For foodies, there will be cooking-with-wine demonstrations and samplings in the wine cellar. Saturday at 2 p.m., Justin Disbrow, executive chef at The Nines at the River Club, will create several dishes using Cedar Creek Winery wines. Sunday at 2 p.m., the Anvil Pub & Grille���s chef will cook with wine. All weekend, the 25 retail merchants at the settlement will host in-store special features, demonstrations and new spring merchandise.
