Equipment Focus Earth-moving Equipment Bobcat's E35 compact excavator with extendable arm Bobcat's E35 compact excavator with an option for extendable telescoping arm provides power and reach. The extendable arm option provides an additional 30 inches of reach beyond the standard arm, while the extendable arm cylinder is operated through a rocker-style thumb switch located on the joystick. Versatility of operating attachments is not compromised since it can use Bobcat's optional Hydraulic X-Change mounting system, which allows for even faster attachment changes. Zero tail swing provides more unrestricted rotation and greater flexibility when working close to objects or a wall. Gehl RT250 compact track loader Gehl introduced the RT250 compact track loader, which boasts an operating capacity of 2,500 pounds (at 35 percent tipping capacity) and a Tier IV engine. The RT250 compact track loader is equipped with a 74.3-hp. Tier IV emissions-compliant Deutz turbo-diesel engine. The RT250 delivers 243 ft.-lbs. of torque and up to 14,317 pounds of tractive effort, resulting in better traction and stronger digging forces. In addition, the Deutz TD 3.6 engine does not require any fuel after-treatments or periodic regeneration, which means less downtime for routine maintenance on the jobsite. The high-torque engine on the RT250 also features AntiStall technology, which senses machine load electronically and continuously monitors and adjusts the hydrostatic drive pump displacements to manage available engine horsepower and torque. Kubota KX040-4 excavator Kubota's new 4-ton KX040-4 excavator packs superior performance, versatility and comfort into one compact machine. The KX040-4 prioritizes the economy and supports the environment with its "Eco Plus" system, giving operators the option of "eco mode" for up to 20 percent less fuel consumption than prior models. For applications that require full power, operators can switch to standard mode and still experience improved efficiency and lower fuel consumption. The KX040-4 also boasts auto downshift travel motors, which shift automatically to improve productivity; operators will benefit from smooth turns and faster backfilling. The KX040-4 has a 42.4-gross-hp. engine, a dumping height of 12 feet 9.5 inches, and a digging depth of 11 feet 2.6 inches. Kubota's KX040-4 is ideal for contractors looking for 5-ton features in a 4-ton machine. A top-of-the-line deluxe interior features an air-conditioned cab, wide entrance, fully flat floor, deluxe suspension seat, and an easy-access up-front control panel. McMillen 75 Series augers McMillen 75 Series augers by Paladin Attachments utilize a sealed planetary reduction auger drive to dig hole diameters ranging from 4 to 36 inches. All moving components are completely sealed and lubricated for maximum cooling and minimum wear. McMillen 75 Series auger drives are bi-directional, allowing the operator to back out of an obstruction and quickly pull the auger drive from the hole. If immovable or hard objects are hit while digging, an internal hydraulic relief valve protects the unit and the hydraulic system. Mustang R Series skid-steer loaders Mustang redesigned its full-sized radial lift skid-steer loader line. The all-new R Series includes 3 models — the 1900R, the 2200R and the 2600R — and offers a new operator's station with an integrated digital display, improved 360-degree visibility, pressurized cab option, Tier IV-compliant Yanmar engines, and an enhanced hydraulic system. The R Series radial-lift skid-steer loaders fall into the large-frame category. When equipped with optional counterweights, the rated operating capacities range from 2,110 pounds on the 1900R to 2,780 pounds on the 2600R. Lift heights reach up to 120.5 inches on the 1900R and 123 inches on the 2200R and 2600R. These large-frame loaders come equipped with environmentally friendly Yanmar engines that incorporate diesel particulate filter technology and do not require fuel after-treatments. With maximum torque ratings from 173 ft.-lbs. on the 1900R to 206 ft.-lbs. on the 2600R, these machines are equipped with the power needed to tackle demanding jobs. 24 Landscape and Irrigation May/June 2013 www.landscapeirrigation.com
