Fleet News By Tara Bullock Hornady invests in new trucks, driver programs Hornady Transportation announced a major investment in trucks and programs geared to retain and recruit drivers. More than $16 million was invested in new trucks and trailers, while another $1 million was invested in driver pay packages broken down by experience, flat rate tarp pay and a performance bonus. CRST Malone quadrupled sign-on bonuses for its owner-operator flatbed division. Previously capped at $1,000, the new incentive package boasts a $4,000 bonus allotted over the course of a year. Facilities Kentucky-based M&M Cartage plans to invest $7.5 million in building materials and capital equipment for the construction of a new headquarters with green efficiencies and new trucks powered by compressed natural gas. The Commonwealth of Kentucky awarded M&M Cartage $800,000 in economic incentives to spur the investment that will lead to 45 new jobs. Old Dominion Freight Line relocated its service center in Asheville, N.C., to a new 43-door facility near the intersection of Interstates 26 and 40. The less-than-truckload company also moved its service center in Albuquerque, N.M., to a new 41-door facility near the intersection of I-40 and I-25. Awards Refrigerated hauler C.R. England awarded a 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster Seventy-Two to company driver Farid Nakhla for fuel economy improvements in the third quarter. The other finalists were David Hargreaves, Alan Welton, Jason Sullivan and Wes Hastie. West Side Transport driver Thornton Dixon reached 4 million incident/accident-free miles.
