Welcome to Wisconsin! As Governor, it is my very special pleasure to welcome you to Milwaukee and the great State of Wisconsin. We are blessed with four seasons of exploring, adventuring and enjoying all of our beautiful state. Wisconsin has a knack for balancing tradition with cutting-edge, always seeking and finding new ways to have fun. In Wisconsin you’ll find that we’ve taken our love of the land to the next level – creating a wide range of opportuni- ties for you and your family to enjoy our woods, waters, prairies and cities. Wisconsin is the only state that’s home to two Great Lakes, America’s greatest river, and 15,000 inland bodies of water. Our state’s natural beauty is matched by the world-class amenities and culture of our towns and urban areas like Milwaukee. And in all of our destinations you will meet friendly people who take pride in their communities and look for- ward to welcoming you. Whether you are planning an urban getaway in Milwaukee or choose to explore the rest of Wisconsin’s vacation options, many fond memories are waiting for you. Thank you for visit- ing and please come back often! Sincerely, Scott Walker, Governor Welcome to Milwaukee, the perfect summer destination for big-city entertainment and fun, combined with outdoor adven- ture. Thrill to the roar of engines at the one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson Museum, and be inspired by the spectacular architecture of the lakefront Milwaukee Art Museum and neighboring Discovery World. Stroll past lively brewpubs along downtown’s charming RiverWalk and enjoy shopping in the trendy Historic Third Ward. Summerfest, an 11-day music extravaganza, rocks the lakefront festival park in June/July and heralds Milwaukee’s summertime line-up of colorful ethnic fests. Take the family to cheer on the Brewers at Miller Park or spend a great day at the Milwaukee County Zoo or Milwaukee Public Museum. Shops featuring German sausage and Wisconsin artisan cheese, along with fine German cuisine, are found along Old World 3rd Street, and boat rides and brewery tours beckon for even more fun. Summertime means summer fun for everyone in Milwaukee! Sincerely, Paul Upchurch President & CEO, VISIT Milwaukee Tom Barrett, Mayor As the weather warms in Milwaukee, the city’s atten- tion focuses more on our fantastic lakefront. Our Lake Michigan shoreline, a freshwater coast, has great beaches, including Milwaukee County’s popular Bradford Beach, that attract thousands of residents and visitors. But our city’s lakefront is far more than just water recreation. The lakefront is home to some of Milwaukee’s most prominent museums. The iconic Santiago Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum and the nearby Discovery World both sit on the city’s lakefront. The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is another nearby destination. Milwaukee is renowned as the “City of Festivals,” and the lakefront is home to most of our summer festivals from the world renowned music festival, Summerfest, to the variety of ethnic festivals that add life to our city. One of the important reasons Milwaukee grew into a great city is its proximity to water, and this is the sea- son to celebrate our lakefront.
