48 CULTURED Richard Serra's East West/West-East in the desert outside of Doha Something unexpected has popped up in the Qatari desert. Among the gypsum plateaus is a new Richard Serra landscape commission outside of Doha. The four steel plates of East-West/West-East reach as high as 16.7 meters. Through July 6, you can see another gargantuan new work, Passage of Time, at the Al Riwaq exhibition space in Doha, as well as a retrospective of his work at the Qatar Museums Authority in the Katara cultural village. qma.com.qa 1 MORE THAN A MIRAGE
