50 CULTURED 5 4 6 FRENCH LUXURY HOUSE LOUIS VUITTON continues its exploration of art and location this summer with its latest Espace outpost in Munich. Elegantly counterpointing its location—the historic Residenzpost, a pioneering post office designed in 1838—Vuitton has created another of its signature avant-garde arenas for contemporary art. Its inaugural show, "No Such Thing as History,"—culled from four private collections as well as new works by German photographer Annette Kelm—is curated by Jens Hoffmann and on view through August 8. louisvuitton-espaceculturel.com IF THERE'S ONE THING we've come to expect from the Haas Brothers and their design dealers R & Company, it's to expect the unexpected. This holds true in Basel this June where the gallery will be showing new ceramic works, alongside an immersive environment titled "Advocate for the Sexual Outsider," where one viewer at a time can explore the Haas' playfully thoughtful exploration of sexuality through a series of objects, paintings and films. r&company.com ARCHITECTURAL INVASION Serpentine Gallery—a locus of contemporary art that, since its 1970 founding in a former tea house, has hosted exhibitions featuring the likes of Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat—continues its seasonal architectural dalliance with a new summer pavilion designed by rising Chilean star Smiljan Radic. Resembling an otherworldly pod come to rest, the pavilion references the island's prehistoric monuments while pointing irrevocably toward the future.
