WORLD FENCE NEWS • JULY 2011 • 71 Kiwi Fence Training School gets back in session this September BLAIRSVILLE, Penn. — Anyone looking to expand their knowledge of agricultural fence building practices is encouraged to go back to school – that is, to the Kiwi Fence Training School to be held Sept. 29 and 30 in Blairsville, Penn. Presented by Kencove Farm Fence Supplies, the two-day school is held bi-annually (with spring and fall ses- sions) and attracts farmers, fence con- tractors and do-it-yourselfers. Students receive both hands-on and classroom instruction in the latest building techniques for high-tensile, woven wire, coated wire and HorseRail fences, along with instruc- tion in material estimates and business practices. “Regardless of your skill level, there’s something new to learn at our fence school,” said Bonita Whalen, co- ordinator for the school. “Whether from the instructors or the classmates, there are plenty of tips and tricks passed along during the two days.” The registration fee for the Kiwi Fence School is $350 per person, and $250 for one additional person attend- ing from the same company. The fee covers the school, informational liter- ature, lunch and snacks for each day, a group dinner and a certificate of com- pletion. Students may choose to take the rigorous Certified Automated Gate Operator Installer exam at the conclu- sion of the school. This course curriculum was devel- oped in conjunction with the self study guide for the Gate Operator Installer Certification Program. For those stu- dents working towards this nationally recognized certification, the examina- tion at the end of the course will be given by IDEA, the certifying organi- zation.
