30 MONITORING www.securitysystemsnews.com SEPTEMBER 2011 SECURITY SYSTEMS NEWS NMC debuts new tools to help dealers stay connected By Daniel Gelinas ALISO VIEJO, Calif.—Nation- al Monitoring Center has announced the launch of a new mass notification service that will help dealers stay more updated and informed in real time. According to NMC executive vice president Woodie Andra- wos, the new service—NMC's Emergency Mass Notification and Communication System— will enhance communication with dealers in the event of an urgent issue affecting service to their subscribers, reaching out via telephone calls, SMS and/or emails. "In the past what we've done is contact our dealers one at a Woodie Andrawos time as fast as we can," Andrawos told Security Sys- tems News. "But with this, we can now send a notification via phone, email, or SMS to all the dealers at the same time and in real time." The service will be a differenti- ator according to NMC president Michael Schubert. "The notification system ensures our dealers will be instantly informed in any event, whether it is an update in ser- vice, or in the event of an emer- gency it will allow our manage- ment team to focus on resolving the problems," Schubert said in a release. According to Schubert, NMC is the first in the industry to provide this type of service for its dealers. Andrawos pointed out the sys- tem could also be used by indi- vidual dealers as an end-user fac- ing marketing tool. SSN TRAINING Continued from page 27 the last permutation and offers something for just about everyone. "Dera was on the SIA com- mittee that oversaw creation of the courses originally, and she has been a national instructor for the courses since the beginning. She was also part of the SIA group that created the revision we will be teaching," Rockhold said. "These courses are most appropriate for security cen- tral stations, either third- party or self-monitoring. But Dera and the other instruc- tors have many stories of non-security central stations who have sent managers to the CSOI on repeat occa- sions." Additional CSOI course dates and locations, as well as additional offerings from CSU, will be released on an ongoing basis. SSN UNIVERSAL Continued from page 1 was unique. "We started monitoring signals for each other in 2009 and on the monitoring side it's really seam- less," McAfee said. "The partner- ship is in Universal Monitoring, which is the monitoring entity for both EMC and Crime Prevention." EMC's Raia said the partnership functioned well because of simi- lar core values. "I knew this would work because we have basically the same customer- service focus … We earn your business every day. Every day we compete for our customers in providing them the best customer service, the best monitoring service, the best technical support and John feels the same way." Vince Raia Universal is a UL-listed, CSAA Five Diamond certified central sta- tion that monitors around 41,000 accounts between CPSS and EMC. SSN recently reported on Lan- caster, Pa.-based Security Partners building out its AES mesh net- work as well. SSN
