Brinkman previously had a career in the hotel business before coming to work for Custom Alarm in 1998. Initially working in sales, she became director of business development in 2002, and director of customer services in 2007, a position she held until her recent promotion. I love to do fun things with my kids (age 8 and 9) and my husband, and spend time outdoors. I also love photography and digital scrapbooking. What do you like best about the Midwest, where you live? I like the different seasons. Even though it gets extremely cold in the wintertime, I have the promise of it getting warm at some point. I love fall. It's my favorite season, with the changing leaves. I like Rochester—it's a very nice, family-friendly community. Are you a cat person or a dog person? I'm a dog person. However, I have both. I'm kind of allergic to cats so I don't get too close to them, but I like to play with the dogs … a yellow Lab and a chocolate Lab. What book would you recommend to others? "Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose." It's about Zappos. It shows how, no matter what you do, you can do little things to wow a customer. What is something about you that people might be surprised to learn? I was in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade [in New York City] when I was 11. My great aunt was a [clothes] designer for Macy's …We rode in a truck that was pulling a float. —Tess Nacelewicz Periodicals Postage Rates paid at Yarmouth, ME and additional mailing office.
