SECURITY SYSTEMS NEWS SEPTEMBER 2011 www.securitysystemsnews.com Vector secures $225m By Martha Entwistle PITTSBURGH—Vector Security will use new financing to make acqui- sitions and investments that will better position the company for growth in the commercial space. Vector, based here, announced July 28 the completion of a new $225 million credit facility that includes $75 million in new financing. Vector CEO Pam Petrow told Security Systems News that the funding will be used to invest in three different areas. "The first will be acquisitions [that position us] in a couple of different spaces: integration as well as managed network ser- vices." The company has some target acquisitions in the pipe- line. Second, new financing will support Vector's authorized dealer program for "existing as well as new dealers." And, third, Petrow said, Vector is "developing appli- cations internally [and working with external people as well] that will position us as an integrated solutions provider." What kinds of applications? Petrow said the applications will make use of myriad data that Vec- tor collects from customers every- day. The new applications will collect certain data, and organize and analyze it into meaningful information that Vector's cus- tomers can use to make business decisions, she said. The new applications will expand upon some that Vector now offers. For example, Vector has applications for retail custom- ers that correlate data on high-loss areas of the store with records of when store security systems were armed and not armed. "We really think, going for- ward, that the best way to posi- tion ourselves is to gather infor- mation [and provide it to custom- ers in a way that they can make] decisions based on information, not just data," Petrow said. Vector's financing comes from traditional banks, not private equity, something that's unusual in the security industry. "I think you'd be hard pressed to find another company that uses tra- ditional banking lenders for [all] their financing," she said. The senior debt financing was led by PNC Capital Markets LLC and Administrative Agent PNC Bank, National Association, with RBS Citizens. Bank of America and US Bank also participated. The group includes a new regional bank: Huntington Bank. SSN COMMERCIAL & SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS 19 LPGA Continued from page 18 This year the Rochester Institute of Technology helped make the expo tent, a "very progressive high-tech structure for the com- munity, which was great," said Jim Garvey, director of opera- tions, Wegmans LPGA Champi- onship. While they were excited about the structure, organizers also wanted to ensure that the structure and the merchandise inside were adequately protected. Securitronics installed eight Axis cameras, (two thermal cameras, two interior fixed dome cameras and four fixed-position day/night cameras) which were used to watch the delivery area, operations area (where all the maintenance people resided), a carts storage area, the medical area (where drugs were stored), and the expo tent—inside and out. The cameras were moni- tored via an ExacqVision server at a portable mobile security office that was set up in an RV. Security personnel could watch the video from the securi- ty trailer and from a smartphone while onsite or offsite. Securitronics installed a Fluid- mesh 10-node mesh network. "It allowed us to transmit the video at full speed and at full resolu- tion," said Securitronics EVP Terry Rivet. The network was installed on a temporary basis, but will be rede- ployed and may be expanded in the future, he said.
