Cernium introduced Check- Video two years ago and currently has "upwards of 100 dealers offer- ing the product, we've been devel- oping the [CheckVideo] ecosys- tems over the past couple of years. The business is taking off and now we need more dealers out there," said Phil Robertson, Cernium VP of Security and Alarm division. "What we are doing now is spending the time and resources to build up the dealer program in a more for- mal way with additional [marketing] materials, training programs, sales and technical engineer- ing support." CheckVideo is a hosted remote video-monitoring product designed to eas- ily connect analog cam- eras to a monitored ser- vice. Phil Robertson Using analytics, the cameras are "trans- formed into video sen- sors that send critical, real-time alerts users can act on to verify and prioritize alarms, shorten law enforcement response times, stop crimes in progress and reduce false alarm fines," the company says. Alerts are generated by the presence of people and vehicles, rather than just motion. In June Cernium announced a partnership with Sprint that gives the dealer an option if they can't or don't want to use the existing network—because of bandwidth issues or if it's an outdoor asset where it's not cost- effective to pull Ethernet or fiber, for example. Robertson said the program is good for "dealers who want to expand their business and focus more on their commercial busi- ness." Cernium is offering dealers a "low-cost, no risk deal," Robert- son said, where dealers receive a kit, training and other technical support so they can try out the product. The company is also offering dealers a money-back guaran- tee if dealers should they decide against offering the product. Hulusi believes the platform will transform "how secure iden- tity is delivered and managed to significantly improve protection, flexibility and functionality." Importantly, the platform oper- ates on HID's so-called Trusted Identity Platform (TIP), which "enables configurable credentials and mobile contactless solutions to be securely provisioned no matter where users are located or how they are connected." Hulusi said it's the "first fixed and mobile identity platform that is based on open standards and can support a wide array of smart card technologies." This open platform means security levels can be easily and quick- ly improved with a firmware update, he added. "Phones can now be used to open doors and deliver a wide variety of access control capa- bilities and services, which will enable integrators and installers to improve user convenience, expand applications, and sig- nificantly improve security," he said.
