Holiday Activity Guide Holiday Lights Festival kicks off with Mickey Mouse Nov. 17 THEMILWAUKEEHOLIDAY Lights Festivalwill kick off its 13th seasonwith an exclusive appear- ance byMickeyMouse onNov. 17 at the Milwaukee CountyHistorical Society, 910N. Old World Third St., in PereMarquette Park. Radio DisneyAM1640, part of the #1 radio net- work for kids, tweens and families,will distribute 450wristbands beginning at 2:30 p.m.Wristband recipientswill have the opportunity tomeet MickeyMouse and snap a photo. Everyonemeet- ingMickeyMouse, includingmoms and dads, must have awristband. Themeet and greetwill take place from3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and include dancing and singing fromthe Radio Disney Road Crew. Following themeet and greet, theMilwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganzawill light up the nightwith a ceremony in Pere Marquette Park.As the official start ofMilwaukee's holiday season, the night includes a festive family fashion showat 5:30 p.m. and a holiday variety showcompletewith fireworks at 6 p.m. This year's cast includes Castle of theArts, Danceworks, Christopher's Project, Santa Claus, Pius XIHigh School'sMadrigal Choir,MickeyMouse andmore. After the ceremonial switch-flipping, fest-goers are invited to tour downtownMilwaukee's sightswith free Jingle Bus rides. Lighted scenes include "Community Spirit Park" at Cathedral Square Park, "Holiday Sweet Treats" at PereMarquette Park and "Let Us Entertain You" at Zeidler Union Square. TheMilwaukeeHoliday Lights Festivalwill contin- ue to illuminate downtown streets and parks through Jan. 1, 2012. Fromstorefront decorations and roofline lighting to park and harp lamp decorations, visitors can experience the Festival'smyriad of color aboard the convenient Jingle Bus. For $1 per person, this Coach USAbuswill take visitors on a 40-minute tour throughout downtown.Afriendly Public ServiceAmbassadorwill also be on board to acquaint visitorswith downtown attractions. The Jingle Buswill operate Thursdays through Sundays,Nov. 18 through Dec. 30, from6-9 p.m. fromthe PlankintonArcade at The Shops of Grand Avenue, the festival'sWarmingHouse location at 161W.WisconsinAve. Hot cocoa, coffee and cookieswill be served to awaiting Jingle Bus riders.
