You may even be able to assist them in financing with their own bank or credit union if you have a direct relationship or you use a source such as CU Direct (CUDL). What if they are payment-conscious? A dealership frequently can offer longer terms than their personal bank. You may also be able to offer them factory-financing options that they cannot access without going through your finance department. What if they need a down payment at their bank? As you know, you can provide most cus- tomers with the ability to put no money down. Customers may not know that. Do they have accessories or apparel that they want to finance? Many banks or credit unions will not finance things such as accessories and apparel. If customers finance with you, they will be more likely to be able to finance these things. You may be able to finance it directly with their motorcycle loan, or you may be able to get them separate financing for these items in order to make their dreams come true. Remember, our customers might not know what seems like common knowledge to all of us within the industry. Often, convincing them to finance with you is as simple as letting them know what you can offer that might ben- efit them.
