PORTABLE POWER | Edgers & Trenchers Echo PE-265S straight-shaft edger The Echo PE-265S Perfect Edge straight-shaft edger boasts a 25.4-cc Power Boost Vortex engine for outstanding power- ful performance and a straight-shaft design that reduces cable wear. It also features an i-30 starter for a 30-percent reduc- tion in starting effort, ergonomically comfortable rubber left- and right-handle grips for all-day operation, a Pro-Torque gear case for optimum power to the blade, and a replaceable steel wear plate for extended gear case life. Echo Inc. Efco's 8245 SE edger Efco's 8245 SE edger is engineered for optimized excellence through high quality, durability and comfort. The 8245 SE boasts a professional series 2-cycle 1.2-hp. engine that is guaranteed for long-term performance and an anti-vibration mount on the shroud. Other features include a 16.9-fluid-ounce fuel tank, a 7.7-inch-long by .01-inch-wide cutting blade, an easy-access air filter, an automatic lift starter, an aluminum gear box with grease fittings to maximize the unit's work life, a 6-inch plastic wheel for precise edging, an easy-to-use height adjustment (with a 2.25-inch height reference scale in 3/8-inch increments), a rubber ergonomic loop handle for increased control and comfort, and a total weight of only 13.7 pounds. Emak USA Grasshopper Edge-EZE edger The Grasshopper Edge-EZE edger reduces edging time up to 75 percent over conventional handheld edgers. With a 2.5- inch depth of cut, Edge-EZE maintains established edges at up to 500 feet per minute. Twelve-inch vertical adjustment and a reversible, self-sharpening disc allow convenient edging from the sidewalk, turf or curb. Dependable, heavy-duty construction makes Edge-EZE ideal for daily commercial use, so it easily pays for itself in no time at all. Compatible with all DuraMax decks, Edge-EZE mounts on either side of the deck. An optional electric actuator increases downward pres- sure and raises the disc to cross sidewalks and driveways. The Grasshopper Co. Gravely Edger The Gravely Edger may be used to edge, trim, and bevel along walkways, driveways and curbs. Equipped with a 169-cc Subaru engine, this edger has the power to perform the most difficult landscaping projects while minimizing noise and vi- bration. Its recoil starter and standard push drive train system make the machine easy to operate. The deck is built with 12-gauge steel for added strength and durability. It offers a 4-position height adjustment and 110-degree pivot head rota- tion for cutting, trimming, or beveling, so almost any landscape manicuring job can be completed with just 1 tool. The er- gonomic t-handle optimizes operator comfort and adds a level of safety though an operator presence control. The muffler is designed to keep the sound output 2 decibels lower than its competitors. Gravely, an Ariens Co. Husqvarna 327ES edger The Husqvarna 327ES edger is equipped with an E-TECH II engine (1.2 hp./24.5 cc) for increased power and better fuel economy, making it ideal for professional landscapers. The front handle can quickly be adjusted using the thumb screw. A wearplate under the engine and a reinforced spark plug guard provide added protection. The steel torque tube drive shaft allows for maximum durability. The 327ES is outfitted with a heavy-duty 90-degree head designed for tough commercial use. A stand-alone starter makes it easy to change the starter cord if needed, and the stop switch automatically resets to the "on" position for easier starting. Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc. Kawasaki KEL27B edger The KEL27B is powered by Kawasaki's field-proven TJ27E engine. The 26.3-cc engine is designed for "1-pull" starting and improved fuel efficiency, including an upgraded carburetor design that reduces exhaust emissions to meet the toughest EPA and CARB Tier III requirements. The "stratified" 2-barrel carburetor buffers in fresh air between the intake and ex- haust cycle, which reduces unburned fuel in the exhaust. The engine's catalyst exhaust system further cuts emissions and enhances fuel efficiency for cleaner, more efficient operation. The engine's enrichment starting system replaces the typical choke, and it eliminates the chances of flooding the engine at start-up. Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Little Wonder BedShaper The Little Wonder BedShaper cuts crisp, clean edges, even "S" curves, up to 100 feet per minute, making short work of even the largest edging, bed shaping and trenching projects. With features like added differential and zero-turning radius for outstanding maneuverability and precision, a hydrostatic transmission for infinite speed control in forward and reverse, multiple engine options (13-hp. Kawasaki or 13-hp. Honda), and cutting depths from .5 to 4.5 inches, the Little Wonder BedShaper has the power and versatility to perform a variety of tasks. It also boasts a welded steel frame; a 16.25-inch- diameter, heat-treated, spring-steel blade; and a BladeFloat arm that allows the blade to travel over obstacles without stopping.
