GIE+EXPO 2011 RECAP None of the newly rated Kawasaki engines will exhibit performance differences when compared to comparable engines that have been sold in the past. Kohler unveils closed-loop EFI engine that accepts all ethanol fuel blends Kohler Engines showcased another industry innovation — a closed- loop electronic fuel injection (EFI) engine with the flexibility to use all ethanol fuel blends, from E0 to E85. The new Kohler Command PRO EFI FlexFuel E85 Engine offers end users an unmatched array of fueling options, which translates to signifi- cant savings at the pump. Kohler's exclusive closed-loop EFI technol- ogy provides additional savings with its high performance in the field while delivering the lowest overall operating cost to green industry professionals. Kohler's 30-hp. FlexFuel E85 engine "In the simplest terms, our new EFI FlexFuel E85 engine utilizes lower-cost fuels more efficiently than any other engine on the market," said Mark Johansen for Kohler Engines. "The efficiency gains can be at- tributed primarily to our unique closed-loop EFI technology, which con- stantly monitors the air/fuel mixture in the engine's muffler and automatically makes necessary adjustments to the amount of fuel injected into the system." Kohler EFI engines "close the loop" between the air/fuel intake and the exhaust output to provide a constant stream of critical feedback, which helps deliver optimal fuel efficiency and a variety of other benefits, including easier starting, improved power and increased life span. In the new engine, the company's closed-loop technology automati- cally senses the ethanol mix in the engine — even if that includes many different grades — and optimizes performance accordingly. So, the end user has fewer worries about fuel type, fuel quality or ethanol content. The EFI FlexFuel E85 engine is designed to intuitively make perform- ance enhancements, regardless of operating conditions. "As an added benefit, many end users will be glad to know that our new Kohler EFI FlexFuel E85 engine can safely use E15 fuel," Johansen continued. "Unfortunately, many lawn and landscape pros have run into performance issues when using E15 because of its corrosive properties. Then, they go on to learn — after it's too late — that most equipment manufacturers don't cover damage caused by E15 fuel. Of course, our new EFI FlexFuel E85 engine can easily handle E15, while also providing security for all other fuel types up to E85." LawnShark reveals new compact unit Leaves and other lawn debris taking up residence inside yards with gated fences are no longer safe from the new compact LawnShark. With a 32-inch clearing width, LawnShark USA's new LTL-32 easily fits through 36-inch gates. Once the LTL-32 has entered the yard, it uses its counter-rotating brushes and cyclonic suction to quickly and effortlessly remove debris from any surface. Then, it employs its mulching impeller to chop and dis- charge everything from wet and dry leaves, dead grass, sticks, pinecones, pine straw to paper and plastic debris, cigarette butts and aluminum cans into the bag. In addition to the clearing width being narrowed from 42 to 32 inches, the length of this high-performance litter and leaf collection machine has been short- ened by about a foot. And the color of the unit has been changed from gray to regal red. Other features of the LTL-32 include a 5.2-bushel double-layered LawnShark's LTL-32 poly bag, 11.5-hp. Briggs & Stratton Power Built Series or 9.5-hp. Honda engine, 6-speed transmission and heavy-gauge high-carbon steel con- struction.
