PORTABLE POWER | Engines Vanguard single-cylinder engines with the TransportGuard system Vanguard single-cylinder engines feature a single lever, the TransportGuard system, which simultaneously shuts off fuel and the ignition. Landscape contractors now have the leverage to eliminate human error on their equipment's power source — fuel stays where it belongs during transport, preventing fouled plugs, hydraulic lock, cylinder wash down or crankcase oil dilution. Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power Honda's large GX and iGX Series engines Honda delivers more power, better fuel economy and low noise with its large GX and iGX Series engines. The Honda GX Series offers reliable, easy starting and quiet, fuel-efficient power for a variety of commercial applications. Featuring 4 all- new larger models (GX240, GX270, GX340 and GX390) introduced in 2010, these engines feature a rugged OHV design and superior power output that ensures a high level of durability and reliability for construction, maintenance and premium power equipment. Honda also recently expanded its iGX Series with all-new iGX340 and iGX390 models. These OHV en- gines incorporate an electronic self-tuning regulator (STR) governor, an integrated electronic control unit (ECU) and addi- tional, advanced technologies for more complex applications. Honda Engines Kawasaki FX engines Kawasaki's FX line of air-cooled, 2-cylinder engines is designed specifically for commercial mowers, light industrial and construction equipment applications. Ranging from 15.5 to 37 hp., these engines incorporate design features that deliver smooth power output, quieter operation and long-life durability. The compact, air-cooled, 90-degree, V-Twin engines boast hemispherical combustion chambers and overhead v-valve technology. Features include twin-barrel, internally vented car- buretor with fuel shut-off solenoid, high-efficiency oil cooler, dual-stage canister air filter and roller ball bearings in the upper crankshaft bearings. These engines have steel air shrouds instead of composite shrouds to permit tighter tolerance between the shroud and air intake screen, resulting in more complete chopping of grass clippings and less debris buildup in the cooling fins. Kawasaki Engines Kohler Command Pro EFI FlexFuel E85 engine Kohler Engines recently introduced a closed-loop electronic fuel injection (EFI) engine with the flexibility to use all ethanol fuel blends, ranging from E0 to E85. The new Kohler Command Pro EFI FlexFuel E85 engine offers end users a vast array of fueling options, which translates to significant savings at the pump. But the savings don't end there because Kohler's exclusive closed-loop EFI technology also provides performance in the field while delivering low overall operating costs. Kohler EFI engines "close the loop" between the air/fuel intake and the exhaust output to provide a constant stream of critical feedback, which helps deliver optimal fuel efficiency and other benefits such as easier starting, improved power and increased lifespan. In the new EFI FlexFuel E85 engine, the closed-loop technology automatically senses the ethanol mix in the engine — even if that includes many different grades — and optimizes performance accordingly. Kohler Engines LCT engines Liquid Combustion Technology (LCT) is a USA managed and operated company that prides itself on quality and engineer- ing excellence with hundreds of thousands of engines sold to world-class OEMs. LCT currently offers 136-cc, 208-cc, 291- cc and 414-cc horizontal gas engines for both summer and winter applications, and the engines have been certified to meet 2012 emission requirements. Focusing on the highest standards of customer service, LCT engines are supported by Lauson Power Products, formerly TecumsehPower Company, through its extensive and experienced network of distribu- tors and dealers globally. Liquid Combustion Technology Subaru's All-Season Engine Subaru's All-Season Engine combines the powerful benefits of overhead cam (OHC) technology from its EX Series en- gines with special cold-weather features of its SX Snow Series line to create a multi-seasonal solution for a variety of out- door equipment. Initially developed as a year-round power solution for rotary brooms, Subaru's All-Season Engine doesn't require any adjustments to accommodate varying weather conditions. The 9-hp. unit is designed to operate in tempera- tures ranging from 20 degrees below zero Fahrenheit (F) up to 140 degrees F, making it ideal for additional types of multi- season equipment, including log splitters, chippers and shredders, and lawn and turf seeders.
