ASHRAE INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS, DIRECTORS ASHRAE has installed new officers and directors for 2015-16 at its Annual Meeting held here June 27-July 1. T h e n e w p r e s i d e n t i s T . TO RESOLVE U.S. CLASS-ACTION SUIT THROUGH ENHANCED WARRANTY Uponor, Inc. and several home builders, plumbers and distributor partners have requested court approval of two class- action settlements relating to alleged failure risks of Uponor yellow brass fittings. "We continue to have a high level of confidence in the long-term performance of these products as they have an excellent track record, but view these settlements as a way to resolve extensive litigation and assure our customers and partners that we stand behind our products," said Bill Gray, president of Uponor, Inc. According to the terms of the settle- ments, Uponor, Inc. will be providing an enhanced warranty to property owners to cover potential fitting failures. There also will be a separate claims fund established to honor the terms of an enhanced war- ranty. Details of the settlements are subject to final court approval. Uponor, Inc. is an award-winning provider of plumbing, fire safety, radi- ant heating/cooling, hydronic piping and pre-insulated piping systems for residential and commercial applica- tions. In 2014, the company received a Best-in-Class award for Minnesota manufacturing, a Community Impact Award for sustainability, and a Progress Minnesota award for driving business growth and economic development. ASHRAE, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY RENEW MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING Underscoring their commitment to improving the efficiency use of energy, ASHRAE and the U.S. Department of Energy have renewed a memorandum of understanding.
