This will put the burner into "Pre-Purge" mode. 4. After the pre-purge period the oil valve will energize. At this time, place the switch in the "ON" position. 5. The oil will now leave the pump and enter the receiving container. Note: There should be flow from the nozzle and all air should be purged from the pump. The use of an oil line from the nozzle port to the purging can may speed this process. Note: On some gravity systems with little to no restriction in the system the use of a jumper between terminals 5 and 6 of the sub-base without the control installed MAY also bleed the pump. The use of a CATIII 600Vac jumper like that shown in Figure 8 (available from us) is recommended to protect the techni- cian from line voltage. The gravity procedure will not work with an oil safety valve or check valve in the line(s) and any overhead line that travels above the tank. TWO-PIPE SYSTEMS Normally when the pump is set up for two-pipe operation it will self-purge after a few safety resets. This includes installations equipped with a de-aerator. The #111 will speed up the process. The burner will also provide an audible as well as visual notice that the pump is bled by opening the damper (if equipped) through the piston. However if a large amount of air is present in the system the pump should be bled using a #111 Cad-cell Deviator. NOTE: Use of the #111 Deviator Switch shuts off the burner ignition system, so again the use of an oil line placed into the noz- zle port and ending in the priming can is recommended, Figure 9. The #111 makes priming a Riello pump in any vacuum appli- cation easy and you can find more about it on our website. It's a real time saver and is only $15.00, plus shipping.
