Fleet News 76 | Overdrive | October 2015 Carriers continue to boost pay, benefits AMERICAN CENTRAL TRANSPORT increased pay for company drivers and owner-operators. Over-the-road company drivers received a 2-cents- per-mile increase, which was added to the 1-cent-per-mile anniversary increase given earlier this year. The Liberty, Mo.-based company also added a 2-cents-per-mile increase for all owner-operators who add the By Dean SmallwooD Lytx DriveCam system to their trucks. Contractors also now receive $1.05 per loaded mile if they have a hazmat endorsement and 99 cents per loaded mile without, with 90 cents per mile paid for empty miles and a fuel surcharge on all miles. AVERITT EXPRESS announced an increase to mileage pay for its veteran truckload drivers, as well as enhancements in accessorial pay for all regional drivers. The Cookeville, Tenn.- based company increased its pay rate to 45 cents per mile for associates with five or more years of experience. Associates with four to five years of experience now make 44.5 cents per mile, while associates with three to four years of experience now make 44 cents per mile. All truckload drivers also received enhanced detention, layover, local delivery and stop pay. Clayton, Ala.-based flatbed carrier BOYD BROS. TRANSPORTATION announced a 2-cents-per-mile seasonal bonus for all company drivers paid by the mile, allowing those drivers to make up to 56 cents per mile. Company drivers paid by percentage received a 1 percent increase. USA TRUCK now allows its company over-the-road driving teams to select when and where they take time off at any time or location within the company's approved network. The Van Buren, Ark.-based company's "Choose Your Hometime" policy is designed to provide an enhanced work/ life balance and flexible scheduling.
