November '15 www.studentdriverplacement.com 1 3 friends and family. As volunteers, we were asked to place the wreath and repeat the fallen veteran's name, Sergeant Major Bernard Slocum III, as a show of respect and honor for their sac- rifi ce to me and my family and also to you and your family. I can tell you that single, simple act of reciting his name still stirs me today. Wreath laying happened all over America that day. An additional 490,000 wreaths were delivered to 1,034 veterans' cemeteries from coast-to-coast for a total of 720,000 wreaths placed on a veteran's grave that day. There is no way those wreaths could have made it to those cemeteries without the trucking industry. Truckload Carriers Associa- tion jumped in with all their staff and resources to coordinate the trucks and wreaths to ensure a smooth and timely arrival of wreaths at the cemeteries on December, 13, 2014, Wreaths Across America Day. I want to thank everyone involved in Wreaths Across America Day for the sense of joy and honor I had by participating. It was one of the most impressive days I have ever enjoyed. I also want give a special thanks to the Worcester family for keeping their one goal of honor- ing our veterans every year. Their surplus wreaths started something grand, and I invite you to participate this year in this wonderful experi- ence. Remember Wreaths Across America on Dec. 12th, and do what you can to help. Thank you again. ◆ Jim C. Klepper is President of Interstate Trucker Ltd., a law fi rm entirely dedicated to legal defense of the nation's commercial drivers.
