Wisconsin, Michigan applaud Lake Express for green travel RECOGNIZED AS a "Green Transportation Program" by the The Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee, the Lake Express high speed ferry is an active participant in green practices programs of the states of Wisconsin and Michigan. In 2008, the Lake Express was one of the first passenger vessels and the only Lake Michigan ferry to merit inclusion in the Travel Green Wisconsin certification program. Follow-up certifications showed improvement in performance and recognized the Lake Express for storing waste and off-loading onshore for safe storage and processing. In Michigan, the Lake Express is a participant in the Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership, a voluntary program open to all Michigan businesses interest in initiating or expanding pollution prevention practices and receiving recognition for those efforts.
