Founding President James Lloyd Breck established a quasi-monastic educational community on the shore of Upper Nashotah Lake. A Benedictine lifestyle in the Anglican Tradition is still lived amidst stone buildings in a wooded sanctuary. For over 170 years its purpose has been summed up in the unofficial title, "the Mission." Nashotah House's strong Anglo-Catholic heritage, married to a high view of the scriptures and a missionary ethos, provides a clear context for a community of faith and graduate learning.
