KEY GALLERIES CELEBRATING ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY this July, Milwaukee's quarterly Gallery Night and Day event is the area's premier event for gallery hop- ping and art viewing. Sixty-two venues will participate in the summer event July 27-28, including most of the major pri- vate art galleries in the Historic Third Ward and East Town areas, along with many retailers. ART Milwaukee takes over Catalano Square in the Historic Third Ward, creating an "Art Park" on Friday, July 27, from 6-10 p.m. with painters, perfor- mances, music and a cash bar. During the Plein Air Painting Competition on Friday and Saturday, artists take to Third Ward streets to capture scenes portraying the life and vitality of downtown area. Painting begins at 3 p.m. Friday and ends 3 p.m. on Saturday. Display and judging is at the P.H. Dye House, 320 E. Buffalo St. at 5 p.m. Finished pieces will be displayed, with some available for purchase. Milwaukee St., will use Gallery Night to open Patrick Farrell: New Paintings and feature his exploration of the painting style "super-realism." On July 17, gallery owner Bill Delind gives a Gallery Talk at the Milwaukee Art Museum in conjunction with the museum's Posters of Paris: Toulouse-Lautrec and his Contemporaries exhibition. 50 • Inside the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N.
